SF (part one)

We're having SO much fun. The trip here could not have gone better; we pretty much rode in every type of transportation on land plus an airplane : we got a ride in a car to the airport from Glen, took a plane from Fargo to Minneapolis to San Jose, then a bus to the Santa Clara train depot, then the train to San Francisco, then our legs to the Amsterdam hostel a mile away!

We're jumping around to a few different hostels while we're here, and so far, it's been really fun. The hostel we're at tonight has some really pretty old furniture in the rooms. We make our own breakfast in the morning, there is a laundry room if we want to wash some clothes, a fridge if we want to store food, and a kitchen to cook if we want to. It's a great place. This morning we talked to one man from France and one from Brazil. We had supper with two girls from Finland.

( I've been carrying around my film camera as well, and am excited to show those once we get back! These photos are from our digital Canon slr)

Noticed:

- things are expensive
- lots more languages / lots more colors
- homosexuality
- one-way streets
- tall buildings

Previously:

- walked Chinatown and got offered so many "very cheap very good food"
- bought 7 day SF municipal transport pass (bus/trolley/train)
- rode on the steps of a trolley passed Lombard Street (crookedest street in the world)
- ate free dark chocolate at Ghirardelli Square
- got rained on
- bought an umbrella
- got pulled into buying an ice cream cone at Pier 39 (Fisherman's Wharf) for $6 because it smelled so good
- got asked by a man if we would take a photo of him on his cellphone and then send it to "his lady" for him
- bought a loaf of bread for $5
- walked a lot
- made pancakes for breakfast with 2 Spanish girls and then ate them with a French man
- took a photo under a beautiful tree in the Yerba Buena gardens
- thought a mass of pigeons were going to poop on us
- saw the ocean (and a little peak of the Golden Gate Bridge - we're going there tomorrow)
- shopped at biggest Forever21 + UO I've ever been to.
- saw over 13 different Starbucks in one day

Currently:

- sitting in a wobbly chair in a corner Starbucks
- sharing an iced double shot with my man
